Leo Nickerson's English program is embedded within a dual-track school environment which values acceptance and diversity. Students play an active role in various communities of learners within and beyond the classroom setting. Through a variety of learning experiences, students are encouraged to reflect, speculate, create, analyze and synthesize their thinking and understanding. Various school-wide activities and grade-alike opportunities, such as skating, swimming, craft days and curricular field trips immerse our students in the diversity of all programs, building relationships and working together to understand and accept one another's differences.
The English program values a sense of community within our own program as well. E.F.A.N. (English Family Adventure Night) was created as a way to bring the families of the English Program together to have fun and to get to know one another. We currently host E.F.A.N. Bingo Night, Family Skate Night and, everyone's favourite, Minute to Win It and Chili Cook-off Night!
